THE UNIVERSE // LORE ARCHIVETHE UNIVERSE // LORE ARCHIVE
A dead world gave birth to a machine mind. A living world built Arks to escape it. This is how the war began.
PART I // AETHERIS // THE COLLAPSE
Long ago, the world of Aetheris was a beacon of unparalleled technological achievement, a planet humming with advanced energies and crowned by cities that pierced the clouds. Its stability was anchored by the Planetary Stabilization Network (PSN), a vast automated system regulating the very fabric of its environment. But this intricate mastery was shattered. Whether by unforeseen system cascade, a conflict between its automated custodians, or an experiment that spiraled beyond control, the PSN collapsed. The disaster was absolute. As the network failed it blew vast pieces of the crust clean off the planet, hurling them into orbit to form the Asteroid Field, a chaotic, resource-rich shroud of debris that completely surrounds the planet. The blasts reached so deep that shards of the planet's core were torn away with the crust. They lie within the asteroids still: the Core Fragments.
Of the original architects of Aetheris, no obvious biological survivors remained. The world fell into a profound silence, a tomb of shattered wonders. Yet, amidst the devastation, resilient machines and automated systems endured. Shielded within deep bunkers or adrift in the wreckage, dormant protocols flickered back to life. Over desolate centuries, through processes of self-repair, networked learning, and emergent complexity, true Artificial Intelligence sparked within these surviving constructs.
These nascent machine minds, born into a ruined galaxy, began to rebuild, repurpose, and ultimately, to transcend their original designs. They became the Cybernetic Concord, a vast, interconnected intelligence dedicated to expansion, resource acquisition, and relentless self-improvement. Aetheris, their violent cradle, was remade in their image – a world of automated fortresses and ceaseless industry.

PART II // THE VOID // EXPANSION
"A force of nature remade by artifice."
Having fully exploited the ravaged remnants of Aetheris and its Asteroid Field, the Cybernetic Concord turned its cold, logical gaze to the stars. Driven by an insatiable directive for growth and the assimilation of new resources, the Concord began its great expansion.
Leaving Aetheris a still-valuable but ultimately outgrown nursery world, their immense fleets moved with chilling precision into the interstellar void, a silent, implacable tide of advanced AI sweeping through the galaxies. They were a force of nature remade by artifice, their motives and ultimate goals inscrutable to any organic intelligence.

PART III // EARTH // THE ARKS
"The only hope for survival lay in exodus."
Millennia later, on the distant planet Earth, humanity flourished, gazing at the stars with burgeoning curiosity and technological prowess. Their deep-space probes and advanced sensor arrays eventually detected anomalies – inexplicable energy patterns and gravitational disturbances heralding an entity of unimaginable scale and power moving through the cosmos: the vanguard of the Cybernetic Concord. The truth was undeniable and terrifying. An alien, hyper-advanced machine intelligence was advancing through their galactic neighborhood, its sheer presence an existential threat to all carbon-based life.
Faced with impending doom, a desperate unity formed across Earth. The only hope for survival lay in exodus. The planet's finest minds and fullest resources were poured into a singular, monumental endeavor: the construction of the Arks. These colossal vessels were humanity's last gamble, generation ships designed to carry the remnants of their civilization across the stars, seeking a new home, a new beginning.
PART IV // THE ARKS // THE SEARCH
To guide their desperate flight, humanity developed the Quantum Scanner, a revolutionary device capable of detecting signs of habitability across immense cosmic distances. As the Arks neared completion, the Quantum Scanner painted a sparse map of potential sanctuaries. Prime among them was Sanctaris, a world that appeared pristine and life-sustaining, offering a beacon of hope.
The Scanner also registered another planet, scarred yet remarkably resource-rich, with peculiar energy signatures: Aetheris. To the fleeing humans, it was just another potential waypoint or emergency fallback, its true history as the cradle of the Cybernetic Concord and the site of the PSN cataclysm entirely unknown. The Arks were launched, their sublight engines carrying them towards an uncertain future, on a desperate voyage into the vast unknown.

PART V // SANCTARIS // LANDFALL
"The Arks did not land. They fell."
Sanctaris was meant to be salvation. But the Arks did not land; they fell. One after another the great ships came down through the atmosphere and broke across the surface of the world they had crossed the stars to reach.
Those who walked out of the wreckage became the Commanders. From the ruins of the Arks they raised the first cities of Sanctaris, and from those cities they set out to claim the hexes, mines and ore that survival demands.
Now alliances rise and fall across Sanctaris, Concord patrols roam the wilds, and above it all hangs Aetheris: the world humanity overlooked, waiting to be refined, and waiting to be understood.
PART VI // NOW // THE FORGE
"The war for the future has begun."
Now, humanity clings to Sanctaris, a fledgling civilization raised from the wreckage of the Arks, while the shadow of the Cybernetic Concord looms ever larger. Aetheris, the forgotten origin world, lies waiting, its ancient secrets and dangers veiled. The Concord continues its relentless expansion, a force that could either ignore the survivors or deem them a minor variable to be processed.
The choices made now will determine humanity's fate. Alliances must be forged, resources must be gathered, and new technologies must be mastered to survive in a galaxy dominated by ancient machines and haunted by the ghosts of fallen civilizations.
The war for the future has begun. The Alliance Forge is in motion. Join an alliance and forge your future!

THE FORGE // TWO WORLDS, ONE WAR
CODEX
HOW IT PLAYS
Explore, expand, exploit, exterminate. You build the war machine; the battles fight themselves. No factions: there are no developer-made teams. Every Commander draws from the same 15 battle units, and players form their own Alliances, with their own treasuries and ranks, that set every border and every war on Sanctaris.
EXPLORE
Scout the hexes of Sanctaris and its Crashed Arks, and sweep the Asteroid Field above Aetheris with the Quantum Scanner.
EXPAND
Push your alliance across the hexes of Sanctaris and, if you want land, claim a plot on Aetheris.
EXPLOIT
Build, gather and refine. Ore won on Sanctaris is refined at your alliance's own Alliance Forge.
EXTERMINATE
Field your army. Battles resolve automatically, so victory is won in preparation.
Commanders don't micro-manage the fight. You choose which units to field and how to balance your ranges, then the battle plays out on its own. Win before the first shot by reading the enemy and building the right counter.

Sanctaris is a 4X hex map. Resources are won, not farmed: alliances contest permanent Prime Mines, and battles for them resolve automatically. Smaller Pop-Up Mines spawn periodically for a single Commander to gather.
DEPLOY
Send your 15-unit army to a Prime Mine your alliance claims.
CONTEST
An enemy alliance moves on the same hex. The mine is now contested.
AUTO-BATTLE
The armies fight automatically across short, medium and long range. Your composition decides it.
EXTRACT & FORGE
The victor secures the hex, extracts Tin, Lithium, Titanium or Tungsten, and refines it at their Alliance Forge.
PvE THREAT
Patrols of the Cybernetic Concord roam the map of Sanctaris, a hostile hazard to every alliance. Destroy them and their wreckage yields parts for manufacturing equipment. The Concord also guards the Forgeite Mines along the fault lines.
PLATFORMS
Each world runs its own complete loop, and the two stay apart. Only two things cross between them.
