ANNOUNCEMENT 03 NOV 2026 // ALLIANCE FORGE HQ 2 MIN READ

Lane Run is now a top-down shooter

Since Tuesday 3 November, every counted Lane Run and Route of the day is a top-down shooter. Your ship flies freely, its guns fire by themselves, and crates still ride the three lanes.

Commanders,

Since Tuesday 3 November at 00:00 UTC, every counted Lane Run and every Route of the day is flown as a top-down shooter. Every round your ship fires is a real round: it flies up the screen and hits the first of the Concord it reaches.

How it flies

  • Drag anywhere to fly. Your ship goes wherever you steer it, up and down the screen as well as across.
  • Your guns fire by themselves. There is no fire button. Your job is where you put them.
  • Crates still ride the three lanes. They add to the load you bring home, as far as your hold has room, and they power up your guns, from level 1 to level 5.
  • Capsules ride the lanes too. They bring a laser, missiles, a smart bomb, a wingman and more.

What can hit you

The Concord's rounds can hit only the white dot at your ship's centre, so the gaps are wider than they look. Flying into the Concord or a rock is a hit too.

Each hit dents the hull, takes a share of the load (though never the hold below 85% of what you loaded), drops your guns a level and lowers the score multiplier a step. A ship with no hull left is wrecked and brings home what it is carrying.

Two pads get you out of trouble. Shield covers you for a moment. Bomb clears the Concord's rounds and hits all of them on the screen, and the rounds you only just miss build up your next bomb.

Four sectors, then the interceptor

A run climbs through four sectors of rising speed, then a Concord interceptor arrives. While its core glows, every round that reaches the core does double damage. Shooting down the Concord scores points and pays no ore, except the interceptor: bringing it down ends the run early and pays ore for that, as far as your hold has room.

What stays the same

The score that counts on the Route of the day is still the share of the load that comes through, with the same lock keeping the first 85% of it, and everyone still flies the same route on the same day on the Standard Ship. The weekly boards for the week of 2 November hold flights from before and after the change.

New to Field Ops? Your first flight is a short training flight, with tips on screen.

See you on the lane.
